The Council of Representatives of the National Minimum Wage Commission agreed to increase the general minimum wage by 22% for the year 2022, resulting in the following:
a. $260.34 pesos for the Northern Border Free Zone.
b. $172.87 pesos for the rest of the country.
This increase already includes the Independent Recovery Amount (MIR), which should not be used as a reference for setting increases in other wages in the labor market (e.g., contractual wages, wages different from the minimum, benefits indexed to the minimum wage increase, etc.) as the effective general increase was 9%.
These general minimum wages, as well as the professional minimum wages, will be in effect from January 1, 2022, according to what was published in the Official Gazette of the Federation on December 8, 2021.
